文摘
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the results and complications when vestibular and implant surgeries are done simultaneously. In order to maintain an adequate morphology of the vestibule and to achieve stability of peri-implant tissue, we have used lipswitch vestibuloplasty concomitant with implant surgery for edentulous patients with shallow vestibule in the anterior area of the mandible.MethodsThe study was performed on 26 edentulous patients (16 men and 10 women) with severely resorbed mandibular ridge. This comparison study was carried out on two groups. The procedures were done in single stage in group I and in two stages in group II. The average time of follow-up was 12 months.ResultsThe results of this study suggest that combination of these procedures has some benefits such as shortening of the treatment period and lessening stress and costs.ConclusionVestibuloplasty and endosteal implant surgery when done simultaneously provide several advantages such as eliminating the need for another surgery for soft tissue management and causing less pain and discomfort for the patient.
