Big potential in existing building stock for reducing environmental impacts of buildings. Selective deconstruction and repurposing of a library tower versus new construction. Repurposing scenario results in 20–41% less impact compared to new construction. Achieved GWP reduction can be equivalent to nine provinces and territories emissions. Holistic approach of looking at all relevant factors comprehensively is required.
