Here we studied a thermal treatment of a potassium-rich metamorphic rock. At 850 °C and ratio MA/VR of 1.7 are optimum conditions to extract water soluble K. Sylvite, anorthite and K silicate are new phases formed by calcination of VR. Products of the calcination represent an alternative for K fertilizer production.
