Giardia duodenalis assemblage A/sub-assemblage AII was prevalent in the city of Damascus and its suburbs. High prevalence of assemblage A/sub-assemblage AII amongst patients aged between 1‐10 years. The route of transmission is mostly anthroponotic. Sequencing is needed to confirm assemblages/sub-assemblages of the strains.
