Single crystal growth of Yb doped KLuW, Nb:RTP and KGP is presented. Structural and morphological characterization of these crystals is summarized. CW laser operation of the above Yb doped crystals is reviewed. The main results achieved at URV related with Yb doped crystals are presented.
