Objectives: Increasing number of heart failure patients is a crucial problem in clinical medicine. Most of patients were treated with medicine and recovered in several days. Some patients, however, were resistant to these therapies and needed to receive the assist circulation therapy: CHDF, IABP and PCPS. In the present study, we investigated the survival factors from heart failure. Methods: From 2001.9 to 2004.3, 480 patients were admitted to our hospital for heart failure (NYHA III, IV). We assessed the clinical, laboratory and echocardiographical indices to find survival factors. Results: Eighty patients died because of heart failure. There was no difference in serum creatinine (Cr) and BNP between the survivosr and nonsurvivers (Cr: 1.3 ± 0.1 vs. 1.5 ± 0.1 dl/mg, BNP: 968.9 ± 79.8 vs. 1216.9 ± 225.0 pg/ml). There was a difference in systolic blood pressure on admission (SBP; p = 0.0029; 129.1 ± 2.9 vs. 106.8 ± 8.0 mmHg) and left ventricular ejection fraction (EF; p = 0.0068; 37.5 ± 1.1vs. 25.7 ± 2.1 % ) between the two groups. More frequenct use of the assist circulation was observed in nonsurvivors (p < 0.0001).Conclusion: Systolic blood pressure and LVEF might be a predictive factor for survival from heart failure.
