This paper considers the origin of telluric currents in oceans. Telluric currents are shown to flow not only through water, but also, to a large extent, beneath the ocean floor and continents. This explains the peaks and depressions of the ocean surface above those areas of the sea bottom that possess high electrical conductivity. Even slight displacements in the Earth's crust, or the obstruction of underground juvenile watercourses, may lead to sharp changes in the vertical component of these currents, which sometimes give rise to earthquakes, tsunamis, and infrasonic vibrations, causing ship and aircraft disasters.
