We examine ground temperatures in the Forcadona cirque area, Cantabrian Mountains. Very different soil and near-rock surface air thermal regimes in the area highly influenced by snow cover. Soil temperatures between 2006 and 2011 showed slightly positive values (0.1–1.1 °C). Permanent negative temperatures may exist in deeper layers.
