New thiophene-tripods with different side arms were synthesized and structurally characterized. The new thiophene-tripods displayed antimicrobial activity. Molecular properties of these ligands were calculated using density functional theory (DFT). Biological activities were associated with the molecular electrostatic potential surface (MEPS).
