He+ irradiation induced cracking and exfoliating on the surface of Ti3AlC2

Effects of He irradiation on Ti3AlC2 were studied at various temperature and dose. The orientated cracks and surface exfoliation were observed after He irradiation. The formation of crack is strongly correlated to the shrinkage of a-LP of Ti3AlC2. The surface exfoliation is caused by He bubble blistering at the projected depth. The grain size and content of TiAl3 phase is good for MAX to relax internal stress.
