Magnetron sputtering was used to prepared CrN and CrNiN coatings on non-nitrided and nitrided Ti6Al4V alloy. The effects of plasma nitriding on mechanical and tribological characterization of PVD coating on Ti6Al4V. Mechanical and Tribological properties of Ti6Al4V was improved with duplex surface treatment. Friction and wear mechanism of coating vary with different surface treatment.
