Coflex provided similar long-term outcomes to posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) for lumbar degenerative disease. Coflex provided better early clinical outcomes compared with PLIF. Coflex group experienced less blood loss, shorter hospital stays and operative times. Coflex stabilization did not affect adjacent segment motion. The reoperation rate for adjacent segment disease was lower in the Coflex group.
