We model MMP–TIMP interaction in normal and cancerous tissues using EGT. We analyze dynamics of MMP, TIMP and cancer cells and investigate asymptotically stable states and ESSs. Our model explains how MMP–TIMP imbalance promotes invasive cancer cells. Two therapeutic approaches are investigated using the proposed model. The results are consistent with the in vitro observations in medical literature.
