The effect on the amount of dentin removed by attempts to remove fractured file fragments from molar root canals with 2 trephining techniques is evaluated. The trepan bur technique removes less dentin than the ultrasonic technique. The time consumed in the successful removal of the fragments is significantly less in the trepan bur group than in the ultrasonic group.
