Germination response to different water potentials did not differs from cacti species from arid environments. The combination of low water potentials and high temperatures highly reduces germination. Seedling development was strongly affected by the combination of low water potentials and high temperature. Differences in microhabitat preferences and species origin can explain differences among species.
