Contrasting lithospheric structure east and west of the Trans-European Suture Zone. LAB depth is ∼90 km in the west with variations related to latest tectonic activity. LAB deepens to 150 km beneath TESZ and becomes indistinct beneath craton. MLD at 80–120 km depth beneath craton due to compositional boundary by metasomatism. Lehmann and mantle transition zone discontinuities imaged.
