Relation between fatty acids and proteomics in E. coli exposed to PFOA was revealed. Palmitoleic acid was the biomarker reflected PFOA stress. Up-regulation of major catalytic enzymes involved in carbohydrate, lipid metabolism. Down-regulated proteins inhabited transport and energy metabolism under PFOA stress. Promotion of TCA cycle and fatty acid biosynthesis increased membrane permeability.
