The surface allying layer could be divided into three zones with different microstructures. δ-Fe phase, dendritic and spherical microstructure in the surface alloying layer were introduced. The formation of dendritic and spherical microstructure was induced by segregation of Ta. High-temperature mechanical properties were remarkably improved after surface alloying treatment.
