A new 1,2,3-triazole 1-oxide was synthesized through a simple one-pot method. The crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. It was as a chelator for biorelevant NiII ion. DNA binding and cleavage properties of the 1,2,3-triazole 1-oxide and its NiII complex were investigated.
