It is likely that extracellular loop 2 region of BmABCC2_S is not a binding site for Cry1A toxins but work as a specificity determinant.

Any amino acid insertions in loop 2 of BmABCC2 at position 234 could result in a loss of receptor function.

Domain II of Cry1A toxin is relevant to modification of host specificity against BmABCC2_R(+234Y)-expressing cells.
