The paper reports the development of a new application for proteomic quantitative analysis using 3D DIGE.

Using the new method, endogenous SUMO protein conjugates were identified in a complex organ, the developing potato leaf.

30 of these 39 identified proteins were not previously known to be SUMO targets.

The method offers a quantitative analysis of targets for SUMOylation, whether singly or in interaction with other PTMs.
