Co–CuBiub>2ub>Oub>4ub> and Cu–CuBiub>2ub>Oub>4ub> were synthesized for SA degradation via PMS activation.

Effects of pH, L and D on SA degradation were investigated.

Effects of common water matrix species on SA degradation were assessed.

Empirical relationship between kub>appub>, L and D was obtained.

A method to calculate [SOub>4ub>radical dot]ub>Nssub> and [radical dotOH]ub>Nssub> is proposed.
