The compositing of two kinds of semiconductors is an effective approach for enhancement of the photocatalytic performance. We examined the compositing effects of p-type CuBiub>2ub>Oub>4ub> on two kinds of n-type visible-light responsive photocatalysts (WOub>3ub> and BiVOub>4ub>). For the composite photocatalysts of CuBiub>2ub>Oub>4ub>/WOub>3ub> and CuBiub>2ub>Oub>4ub>/BiVOub>4ub>, z-scheme type charge transfer would dominantly proceed based on ESR spectroscopy and chemiluminescence photometry. Furthermore, the opposite tendency in the compositing effect of the CuBiub>2ub>Oub>4ub> was observed for WOub>3ub> and BiVOub>4ub>. For WOub>3ub>, the photocatalytic activity decreased after compositing of CuBiub>2ub>Oub>4ub>. In contrast, for BiVOub>4ub>, the photocatalytic activity increased after compositing of CuBiub>2ub>Oub>4ub>. These results would be related to the recombination rate of electrons in the CuBiub>2ub>Oub>4ub> with holes in the photocatalysts (WOub>3ub> and BiVOub>4ub>).
