We compared transplantation outcomes of highly allele-matched unrelated bone marrow transplantation and cord blood transplantation.
A total of 2472 first transplantations for adult acute leukemia were included.
Comparable survival were observed between 8/8 allele–matched unrelated bone marrow transplantation and cord blood transplantation.
7/8 Unrelated bone marrow transplantation showed inferior survival to 8/8 unrelated bone marrow transplantation for patients with acute myeloid leukemia.
Cord blood can be preferred to 7/8 unrelated bone marrow in patients with acute myeloid leukemia.
