The Simulation Research on Marine Safety in ECDIS

Navigation safety has a huge impact on the world economy and our everyday lives. The navigation safety simulation model in ECDIS based on international standard format(S-57) is put forward, which mainly studies on route plan and route monitoring. The Indicator Krige algorithm is applied in the research of the route planning. Thus,the water depth of anyplace is computed by fitting the curved surface of sea-bottom terrain, and the dispersed conditional distribution function worked out by Indicator Krige is corrected in proper order to avoid the accuracy loss because of the big correction. The way of man-machine conversation is taken to amend the planned route to realize auto-deciding of feasibility according to ECDIS information, and the algorithm of route monitoring is improved by avoiding the imprecision caused by screen coordinate making use of coordinate conversion. The models of DCQA(Distance close-Quarters Situation of Approach) and TCQA(Time close-Quarters Situation of Approach) are adopted to judge if the close quarters situation or the risk of collision between ownship and target ship. All these methods are proven to be reliable through the navigation simulator made by Dalian Maritime University which is certified by DNV to class A.
