Environmental conditions for a pan-African forest belt were investigated. A vegetation model was driven with scenarios of changing environmental conditions. A continuous forest belt was simulated under certain combination of these settings. It is likely that the region had hosted these conditions during the Late Cenozoic. Given the right set of climatic changes E. African biomes shift on small time scales Re −/dis-connection of the forest biomes might have influenced hominin evolution.
