Food waste was enzymatically hydrolyzed and nutrients recovered. Hydrolysate was used in continuous flow cultures of Chlorella pyrenoidosa. Nitrogen and/or phosphorous limitation resulted in increased lipid content. More than 300 mg g−1 lipids was found at a dilution at of 0.36 d−1. Contents of palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic acids were 80 mg g−1 and higher.
