Magnetic and electric properties of two triangular lattice antiferromagnets, Ba3NiTa2O9 and Ba3CoTa2O9 are investigated. Comparison with those sister compounds Ba3NiNb2O9 and Ba3CoNb2O9 are made. The role of interlayer coupling in determining the physical properties of triangular lattice antiferromagnets are discussed.
