The Australian infant rotavirus immunisation program was estimated to be cost-saving. Larger than predicted reductions in gastroenteritis coded hospitalisations were estimated. Impacts on other healthcare outcomes appeared less substantial than predicted. Substantial and immediate herd protection was observed in older (unvaccinated) children.
