5-(3′,4′-Dihydroxyphenyl)-γ-valerolactone and its sulphate conjugates, representative circulating metabolites of flavan-3-ols, exhibit anti-adhesive activity against uropathogenic Escherichia coli in bladder epithelial cells
文摘
Inhibition of adherence of UPEC to bladder cells by valerolactones was studied. Different concentrations of dihydroxyphenyl-valerolactone derivatives were tested. Differently sulphated dihydroxyphenyl-valerolactones showed anti-adhesive activity. Phenyl-valerolactones underwent extensive transformations due to cell metabolism. Prevention of urinary infections by cranberries may be mediated by valerolactones.
