Six methods estimate sub-daily extremes at ungauged sites from daily gauges and radar. Radar based extremes used alone systematically overestimate at all time scales. Disaggregating interpolated daily values by radar underestimates sub-daily extremes. Systematic errors can be reduced using spatial and temporal corrections. Decoupling radar and daily precipitation and using their ranks gives best estimates.
