Transfer of hexabromocyclododecane flame retardant isomers from captive American kestrel eggs to feathers and their association with thyroid hormones and growth
HBCDD was deposited into feathers of in ovo exposed kestrel nestlings. HBCDD profile in feathers was dominated by γ-HBCDD. Feather concentrations of α-HBCDD depended on in ovo exposure to HBCDDs. Feather β- and γ-HBCDD depended on size and growth parameters, suggesting selective uptake. Feather concentrations of α-HBCDD were negatively correlated with plasma FT3:FT4.
