Glyoxalases, glutathione reductase from J. curcas were functionally characterized. JcGLYI, II and JcGR conferred tolerance to bacterial, yeast against abiotic stress. Gene expression, activities were assessed in J. curcas subjected to abiotic stress. Glutathione dependent MG detoxification by glyoxalase was evaluated. These genes could be potential targets for engineering to confer stress tolerance.
