Contradictory 2-LTR data were observed in patients with treatment intensification. We used multi-stage models to evaluate the effect of treatment intensification. Raltegravir intensification has a minor effect on 2-LTR circles using our models. An upper bound of the 2-LTR increase was obtained. Treatment intensification may not improve HIV treatment outcome.
