This work describes an integration of medical students and graduate advanced practice nursing students into the same physical assessment labs.
A comparison of grades from non-interprofessional semesters was performed to evaluate the potential impact on student performance. There were no significant differences in aggregate exam scores.
Pre and post Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scales evaluated trends of graduate nursing students’ perceptions. Respect and willingness to work together in teams scored higher in the post surveys than in the baseline survey.
A focus group with graduate nursing students was performed. Overall, the students wanted more sessions with the medical students as well as other IPE classes across campus with other disciplines.
