A novel fluorescent probe 4 for hydrazine based on pyrazoline-derived was synthesized and characterized.

The detection limit of probe 4 toward hydrazine is 1.99 ppb at physiological pH.

The probe 4 could detect hydrazine in gas state with a concentration down to 1.0%.

The practical application to bioimaging was successfully realized.

The sensing mechanism is the deprotection of phthalimide which is verified by the absorption spectra, the 1H NMR analysis and HRMS.
