A dual signal amplification strategy was proposed for wireless sensing of mercury.

The method exhibits a high sensitivity to Hg2+ with a detection limit of 0.885 nM.

No direct physical connection between sensor and detector was required.

The low material cost and small sensor size are of great advantage for Hg2+ assay.
