Glutathione-stabilized fluorescent Cu NCs are prepared by a green one-pot method. The Cu NCs show high quantum yield, ultrafine size and excellent photostability. The Cu NCs are utilized as sensitive and selective fluorescent probe for sensing Fe3+ in real water samples.
