Application of the characteristics-based sectional method to spatially varying aerosol formation and transport

Characteristics-based sectional method (CBSM) was extended to spatially varying flow. Aerosol formation through nucleation and condensation was simulated in lid-driven cavity flow. Accuracy and performance of the method was shown. Applicability and feasibility of the method in a 3D complex geometry was shown by simulation of aerosol formation in the Vitrocell®Vitrocell® exposure system.
