CO2 flux at Longonot volcano, Kenya is < 300 kg d− 1 mostly along crater faults. Carbon isotope values indicate dominantly magmatic source. Gas flux is low despite historical eruption (1863), recent unrest (2004–6). Lower flux than nearby faulted basins, with implications for magma storage regimes.
