Nutrient cycling was studied in stormwater detention basins in central NY.

Moisture and organic matter drove variability in nutrient cycling processes.

N2O emissions were low across all basins.

Wet detention basins had higher CH4 emissions, but also higher denitrification.

For design, subsurface saturated zone could maintain denitrification but reduce CH4.
