A molecular-dated phylogeny and biogeography of the monotypic legume genus Haplormosia, a missing African branch of the otherwise American-Australian Brongniartieae clade
A matK phylogeny places the phylogenetically enigmatic legume genus Haplormosia. Chemistry and morphology add support to Haplormosia within the Genistoid clade. Haplormosia is not closely related to Ormosia of tribe Sophoreae. Haplormosia is unexpectedly revealed as sister to the Brongniartieae clade. Divergence time estimates and ancestral area reconstruction suggest Haplormosia origin by long-distance dispersal.
