This paper deals with the optimal preventive maintenance cycle. Optimal preventive maintenance cycle is determined by minimizing the cost rate. The existence and uniqueness of the optimal value has been proved in this paper. Free and pro-rata replacement and minimal repair are considered upon system failure.
