Organic matters in the recycled media inhibited the growth of N. oceanica. Nitrogen depletion stimulated the secretion of organic matters. Organic matters excretion could inhibit the lipid accumulation of N. oceanica. PAC-pretreatment could alleviate adverse effects of inhibitor in the recycled media. Inhibitors present features of polysaccharide, and humic/fulvic-like substances.
