There is no consensus on measuring mal-positioning of the fibula post operatively. We present a simplified protocol for measuring fibular position in 3 planes on CT. We showed improved inter and intra-observer reliability compared to a commonly used protocol. Imaging both ankles post-operatively is safe and should be routine after complex ankle fractures. This is the first published description of a validated measurement tool for fibular length using CT.
