Down-regulation of GJA3 was associated with H2O2 –induced apoptosis in LECs. GJA3 played a key role in mediating H2O2-induced apoptosis in LECs. GJA3 mutation partly inhibited the capacity of GJA3 to suppress apoptosis induced by H2O2 in lens epithelial cells. Down-regulation of GJA3 in the lens surface epithelial cells from lens tissue of the old mice.
