Ionic liquids were transferred across the water/1,2-dichloroethane interface. A reversible transfer is realized by dissociated ILs with non-coordinating anions. Standard Gibbs energy of transfer for each IL cation is determined. Transfer coefficients from water across the interface into 1,2-DCE are specified. The length of the alkyl chain of the IL causes hydrophilic or lipophilic character.
