Novel Al–Sn–Si–Zn–Cu–Ni filler metal was developed for brazing 6061 Al to Ti–6Al–4V.
The filler metal had large solidification temperature range between 517.7–179.2 °C.
The addition of Sn accelerated the removing process of the Ti-side oxide film.
Integrity Ti/Al joints with good interface bonding and without cracks were obtained.
Ti/Al joint shear strength increased from 45 MPa to 76 MPa by addition of enough Sn.
