The microstructure and mechanical properties of an in-situ TiB2 particles reinforced Al–3.3Cu–1.0Li–0.60Mg–0.40Ag–0.14Zr matrix composite were investigated in the naturally aged condition, together with those of the unreinforced alloy following an identical processing and aging history. With the introduction of sub-micro/nano-sized TiB2 particles, the precipitation of δ′ (Al3Li) was promoted in the composite in comparison with the unreinforced alloy. The composite exhibited the smaller grain size, higher elastic modulus, enhanced yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and superior Vickers hardness over the unreinforced alloy.
