Extraction of low-grade silver from a refractory Au-Ag ore in cyanidation by pretreatment with reductive alkaline leaching

Occurrence state of the low-grade silver (30.7 ppm) in limonite ore from Beiya (Yunnan, China) is characterized.

A pretreatment process of reductive leaching by cuprous in the ammonia-ammonium sulfate alkaline solution is reported.

Metal-Cu was employed to reduce cupric to cuprous in site, based on the Cu2 + content observed in the ore.

The best leaching ratio of silver was 78.96%.

This work developed a comprehensive recovery process for the manganese-silver resource with low silver content.
